Won Park- The Money Maker

Ah, Origami. What would we do without you. What would the world be like without this marvelous papercraft? From tesselation origami to elaborate dragons constructed out of used lottery tickets (Yes, everyone, I’ve seen one!), origami is a craft that continues to stun and amaze me. The work of Won Park is no different.

Made from money. It’s truly not just a saying, Won Park is the master of the dollar bill.  Not only does he manipulate the shape of the paper with expertise, he also is able to use the colour and illustrations on the bills to his advantage. Note the eyes on this bear:

For more of his work, including some amazing Euro folding, check out his Deviant Art page HERE.

Pbuh.

Emily, author of Curly Top, has invented a new (30 calorie) peanut butter spread: Pbu. While I haven’t tried it yet, it definitely sounds delicious! I can imagine it having all kinds of uses.

Prints Available!

Hello hello, all you lovely folks that I have been neglecting for such a long time. Forgive me, but real life called and requred some attention for a while.

One of the many things that took up my time was setting myself up as more of a presence in internet-land. I’ve made prints of my work available at imagekind.com, a lovely website that allows artists not only to network, but also to sell some of their work. Online galleries are definately a unique opportunity, and I’m glad they are getting more attention.

If you are interested in having a print of my work to yourself, check out my gallery. The images start at $17.45USD (it’s an American website that deals through PayPal), depending on what size you choose and whether or not you order the piece with a frame. Most of the originals are still for sale at my website if you are looking for something more substantial. Also drop me a line anytime if you’re interested in hiring me for a commission. Green!

Officially one of my absolute favourite colours, it brandishes the walls of my apartment and so much of my wardrobe. I always love searching Etsy to see what sort of green things people have whipped up. Here are some lovely ones:

Rivullette’s Green Glass Button

Sudlow’s Two Peas in a Pod

LSpurling’s Green and Violet Lampwork Bead Set

Adoration Soap’s Green Tea and Cucumber Soap

Handamade’s Apple Jackets

Smell it Like is Soaps’ Lime Cilantro Soap

NiceFace’s Vintage Inspired Spring Jersey Dress

There, now wasn’t that pretty?

Ooh, Pretty Colours!

Artsy Crafty Babe has recently whipped up some marvellous new bags. I honestly wish I had her fabric stash.

Oh the colours!

Oh the patterns!

Oh the quilting!

Oh the pleats!

If you’re interested in snagging some of these for yourself, I’ve discovered that she does indeed have an etsy page.

Go! Look!

If you haven’t already been a good little reader and clicked the link for this website (which I so conveniently placed in my links over there on the right), then do so now. It’s a great review site, and it’s growing and growing. It will grow faster if you visit it, if you join it, and if you think you might want to submit reviews for it. I’m represented there (see Tofu’s Corner, a mini-blog about nerdiness and creativity featured on the main page) and so are other cool people like my significant other, the Subjective Gamer himself. Who, might I add, has well-expressed, helpful and often humourous opinions about the games he plays. And it won’t just be about PC games for long… very soon Board Games, Music, Console games, Books, Movies… they might all become topics reviewed on this great website. So I’m plugging it. That’s right. The Subjective Gamer.

Kheer

I made some of this rice pudding the other night, adding some cinnamon instead of cardamom, and soaked raisins for some extra oomph. Might I just say that it was deliciously rich and pleasant. If only I didn’t hate boiling milk so much, I might try it again soon.

RicePudding1

Alicia’s Kheer

4 c. milk
1/2 cup basmati rice
1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
1/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon ground cardamom

(This isn’t really a traditional kheer, it’s just made with what she happened to have on hand, but I like it.)

Rinse well and then soak basmati rice in cold water for a half an hour. Combine milk, rice, condensed milk, and sugar in a medium, heavy-bottomed saucepot, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until milk is reduced by half and pudding is thick. Add cardamom, stir, and let cool to room temperature before serving.

Cute, Uplifting Printables from The Small Object

Once again, I’m delighted by the work of Sarah Neuburger, the mind and creative hand behind The Small Object. The most recent addition to her Etsy store: these delightful little printables.

Wouldn’t it just make you smile to get one of these?

Melty Snowman Cupcakes

It doesn’t get much more adorable than this. Cherrapeno gives us “Winter Cranberry Cupcakes”… or as I like to call them: “Melty Snowman Cupcakes”. Just add some creativity in with some rollable, moldable icing, and you have these little fellas. They are so adorably sad and hopeless! Christmas cheer for all!
